What is Audio Production?

-Audio Production is, at it's core, electronic composing. It involves a fair bit of technical knowledge, music theory and creativity. Audio Production is the foundation to everything in music today, from your favorite artist's last album, to their next concert.

-While I won't go into specific jobs on this page (more on that on "What else should I know about Audio Production?"), I will be telling you what specifically you do as someone in this field.

-In Audio Production, you will learn how to create intricate sound designs, sampling audio to place in your own (more on that later), and helping other artists create what they want to make, or creating what you want.

-You'll also learn how to use production software, most commonly Ableton Live or Avid ProTools. Another commonly used audio workstation is Apple's Logic Pro X.

-You will also learn to setup and use equipment that is the industry standard for studios around the world. If you want to specialize more in performing your own music, you can learn how to setup and use CDJ's, MIDI controllers, keyboards and many other pieces of equipment.

-If you choose to be a stage hand, you may set this equipment up for other artists. However, this is just a sample of what you'll do as someone in the field of Audio Production.
